The Spirulina in the plastic bottle lost 38% of its beta-carotene in the first month while that in the sealed glass bottle with metal cap lost none.

How does this happen? Simply, plastic packaging does not protect food from oxidation. The most common form of plastic packaging is HDPE (high density polyethylene) and the oxygen molecule easily penetrates this cheap plastic packaging and oxidises many valuable nutrients in the foods they contain.
Oxygen is the number one enemy of superfoods as it can damage many of the valuable nutrients potent superfoods contain, such as the abundant antioxidants, sensitive vitamins and many food enzymes.

How does LOCTEC™ Nutrient Protection Technology work?
LOCTEC™ removes oxygen from the bottle at the time of packaging and creates an oxygen-barrier seal to keep it out of the bottle. So the starting point is already far superior to standard forms of packaging where that level of oxygen-barrier control cannot be guaranteed.
Our LOCTEC™ packaging is made from glass with metal caps that are 100% oxygen-proof and 100% recyclable, unlike plastic bottles, composite cans (recycled cardboard with plastic and glue added) and plastic pouches.
No oxygen or moisture gets into our glass bottles after they are sealed, so no deterioration occurs during the products shelf life.
Once the sealed glass bottle is in your possession of course you will open it and some oxygen exposure will occur. But the base level of nutritional value will be maintained at true, original integrity.
