Let us introduce you to amazing up and coming Nutritionist and ‘Healthy Inspiration’ – Caitlin Rule
Hi Caitlin, we would love you to tell us a little about yourself and what sparked your interest in the Health and Wellness industry?
I am currently completing a bachelor of Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine in Sydney, Australia. I’m in my 2nd year of study so in a few years I’ll be a qualified and practicing nutritionist. Like many young girls, I struggled with negative body image. I slowly made changes and found better balance- a way of living that is maintainable. I feel the healthiest I have ever felt and I am enjoying my life more than ever. I’ve committed to understanding nutrition and how my body works because I truly believe knowledge is power. Food is as much about pleasure as healing; when you know the feeling of healthy, it’s hard to look back. Eating real whole foods makes me feel amazing and I want to empower people to love healthy cooking and make conscious lifestyle decisions with their health in mind.
Do you have a favourite quote, saying or mantra that you like to live by?
If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.
What are you mostly focusing on these days Caitlin and what are your plans for the future?
I’m mostly focusing on my health and nutrition studies, trying to absorb as much information as I can! Who knows what the universe has in store for me, but I’d love it to include a lot of happiness, passion helping others, and being a good nutritionist!
Is there anything that’s non-negotiable when it comes to your health and wellbeing?
- Greens every day- in my smoothies, salads, whatever. I always find a way to get them in! My absolute favourites are spinach, broccoli and brussels!
- Movement- walking, running, strength training, yoga. I love to exercise, it’s the best way to clear the mind. I also ensure I rest 2-3 days each week, because I believe in balance.
- Healthy homemade snacks prepared in advance for a healthy week. My freezer is full of individually wrapped snacks, to make it easy when for when I’m on the go- like most days.
- 8 hours of sleep. I need a solid night of rest to function optimally and to be my best.
Do you have a favourite healthy practice?
Regular exercise and eating real food- I make it a priority. Just as breathing is an essential of life, I view eating healthy and nourishing my mind, body and spirit as important as is breathing.
What do you like to do for relaxation?
I love taking a warm epsom salt bath with a lovely burning a candle. The magnesium in the epsom salts is great for relaxation and helps get me ready for sleep! Otherwise taking a walk outside, breathing in the fresh air, talking to a friend.
Who or what inspires you?
I get inspiration from many people in my life, but my family and friends are incredible inspirations to me – I’m constantly inspired by their hard work, dedication, headship, and love.
What is your favourite superfood or healthy ingredient?
That’s a tough one! I believe a “superfood” is created by an abundance of wholefoods in a well-balanced diet. Although I’d have to say my favourite two healthy ingredients are broccoli and cauliflower! I love them roasted, added to smoothies and making pizza bases out of them- they are so versatile! Cruciferous vegetables are loaded with nutrients and have so many health benefits. They are great anti-inflammatory foods that provide an extra boost in detoxification support, thanks to the isothiocyanates, especially the sulforaphane present.
Would you like to share one of your favourite ‘healthy’ recipes using a GREEN NUTRITIONALS product with us?
I love my morning green smoothies, or as I like to call them “green goop”. This is such an easy way to incorporate more vegetables into your diet. It’s loaded with fiber to nourish your microbiome, protein to keep muscles toned and fat to increase satiety + make your skin glow.
